CENTAS PLUS IS AN INNOVATIVE PLANT-BASED SANITIZER AND PRESERVATIVE FORMULATED FROM CENTELLA ASIATICA HERB TO ENHANCE THE SAFETY AND SHELF LIFE OF FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES. DEVELOPED IN RESPONSE TO GROWING CONCERNS OVER SYNTHETIC PRESERVATIVES, FOODBORNE PATHOGENS, POST-HARVEST LOSSES, AND ENZYMATIC BROWNING, IT OFFERS A SAFE, NON-TOXIC, AND ECO-FRIENDLY ALTERNATIVE. RICH IN ANTIMICROBIAL AND ANTIOXIDANT PHYTOCHEMICALS, CENTAS PLUS EFFECTIVELY INHIBITS MAJOR FOODBORNE PATHOGENS WHILE REDUCING OXIDATION AND QUALITY DETERIORATION. THIS PROJECT WILL FOCUS ON IMPROVING A FISH VACCINE, AS WELL AS TESTING ITS STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY, SAFETY, EFFICACY, AND COST-EFFECTIVENESS. THE VACCINE IS FORMULATED TO PROTECT FRESHWATER FISH, SUCH AS TILAPIA, CATFISH, AND STRIPED CATFISH, AGAINST AEROMONAS AND STREPTOCOCCUS INFECTIONS. SPECIFICALLY, THE PROJECT WILL EXPLORE A POST-EXTRUSION SPRAY-COATING METHOD USING A FISH OIL-BASED BINDER, WHICH AIMS TO PROTECT ANTIGEN INTEGRITY, ENHANCE VACCINE STABILITY, AND IMPROVE FISH IMMUNITY

DEVELOPMENT OF AN INACTIVATED LOW-PATHOGENIC AVIAN INFLUENZA VIRUS H9N2 VACCINE FOR POULTRY

WE HAVE DEVELOPED A PROTOTYPE INACTIVATED WHOLE-VIRUS PREPARATION OF THE MALAYSIAN H9N2 IN A WATER-IN-OIL EMULSION, WHICH INDUCES A STRONG ANTIBODY RESPONSE. THIS VACCINE-INDUCED RESPONSE CAN REDUCE CLOACAL VIRUS SHEDDING FOLLOWING CHALLENGE WITH H9N2, IN SPECIFIC-PATHOGEN-FREE (SPF) CHICKENS VACCINATED TWICE (TLR 6). IN THIS STUDY, THE DEVELOPED H9N2 INACTIVATED VACCINE WILL BE FORMULATED AND MANUFACTURED UNDER A GMP FACILITY. THE INACTIVATED VACCINE WILL BE EVALUATED THROUGH CLINICAL TRIALS ON COMMERCIAL POULTRY FARMS AND IN A VACCINE EFFICACY STUDY AGAINST RECENTLY ISOLATED H9N2 VIRUSES. THE STUDY RESULTS WILL BE USED TO PREPARE VACCINE DOSSIER REPORTS FOR REGISTRATION OF THE INACTIVATED VACCINE WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY SERVICES MALAYSIA (TLR9) FOR COMMERCIALIZATION. THE INACTIVATED VACCINE WILL BE USED AS A PROPHYLAXIS MEASURE TO CONTROL H9N2 IN COMMERCIAL POULTRY IN MALAYSIA AND OTHER COUNTRIES IN THIS REGION.
